| 
Our client is a major worldwide producer of steel. They are currently setting up new manufacturing operations in Saudi Arabia, Mozambique, Russia, Algeria and Nigeria; and are looking to recruitment a Plant Process Engineer for each location who will be responsible for the overall design, development and improvement of the plants process by:
- Managing relation to constructors to obtain an installation fit for the set targets, including preparation and follow-up of cold tests, hot tests, guarantee tests etc
- Planning, organizing and leading activities that define the production process that will support the designed changes to improve safety, quality, and manufacturing efficiency (yield and productivity, cost).
The successful applicant will be responsible for the successful completion of the project and ramp up of the plant, including the following:
- Provide technical leadership to manufacturing operations
- Analyze more complex product specifications, parts drawings and other engineering data to develop the new installations, the related production processes, estimates of time requirements for each step
- Preparation of operation sheets and all operating manuals and instructions as well as all quality prescriptions for the operators and work force
- Benchmark with key units in AM (and outside the group) to develop and deploy best in class processes for the SG Project operations
- Prepare the quality control systems for the product, to be used once the plant is running
- Assure that appropriate data tracking tools, data base systems, study tools, quality systems, data archiving, etc are available at start-up
- Analyze existing production processes and develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequences that will minimize risks, costs and wastages, increase yields and productivity, and improve the quality and consistency of final products
- Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, check the quality of their work and help them resolve problems
Applicants should hold a suitable qualification in Chemical Engineering or a related metallurgy based subject, and have significant operations experience in the steel-making sector. This is a permanent role, but the client is flexible to people working on a rotational basis if that is a preference. Suitable per diem enhancements are also available.
