Vacancy : Automation Specialist (RTIMS)
urgently required for Oil & Gas Industry Sector in Abu Dhabi.
Minimum Requirements:
• B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering, Process engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in Automation and control system implementation and support in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
Basic Function:
Carries out the design and implementation of new/modify automation system based control strategies, including analyzing users' requirements, preparing program logic and specifications, supervising testing and debugging of applications and systems. Monitors all (DCS, APC, RTDB, Expert, MES System) performance and recommends improvements thereof. Provides support to all system users.
Work Performed:
• Provides daily support to users of all system such as Distribution Control System (DCS), Advanced Process Control Application (APC), Real Time Database System) based on daily requests received. Discuss major modifications requirements with Section Head and implements minor modifications directly after approval. Participates in the configuration of graphics, reports, database and real-time computer systems.
• Monitors DCS and computer system performance and proposes modifications/ enhancement and tuning to the hardware, operating systems and communication systems to improve system efficiency and performance.
• Liaises and discusses with Process Engineers and supervisors modifications related to Process and Plant Automation, such as material balance, fuel balance, advanced control, and proposes solutions as appropriate.
• Participates in the commissioning and acceptance testing of newly installed DCS, APC, RTDB, Expert Systems and Applications. Tests new release of systems and application software. Assists in reviewing technical design of office automation and PC based systems. Coordinates with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) engineers and vendors on all related issues.
• Participates as a member in MES system team activities as part of the overall MES projects activities. Participates with maintenance personnel in diagnosing DCS, ESD and computer systems faults, providing solutions as required.
• Analyses and monitors (DCS, RTDB and Expert Systems) System performance and performs system administration and maintain proper and periodical back up and recovery.
DCS
• Analyse users' requirements for DCS systems; designs program logic and prepares program specifications; and supervises and participates in program development, configuration testing and debugging.
APC
• Provides support to operation to meet such targets as quality, product transition, start-up & shutdown and throughput. Monitors status of APC Controller & Control loop performance.
Expert Systems
• Provides support to operations for state transition of furnaces such as normal to decoke. Standby to normal etc., and also intelligent alarm handing.
RTIMS
• Ensures client connectivity and the reports-graphics for RTIMS users. Performs periodic database maintenance and archives.
• Maintains help desk related data and information on calls services in a suitable format and prepares reports and data.
OTS
• Provides support to operations for rehanding of training simulator during changeover from Ethylene to Polyethylene and vice versa.
